The chateau's philosophy

Our philosophy is based on three key ideas: rigour, pleasure, authenticity.

Through the exhaustive description of our work, it is easy to image just how much this serious attitude and rigour are part of our existence. We often explain to our customers
that the year they are tasting is not only a gift from nature but that our expertise can also correct the anomalies. Growing the vine and the vinification are part of this canvas where different elements make up a work of art which every year leans more and more towards perfection.

But this love of work well done and love for every detail only really becomes significant in the pleasure we feel when passing on our enthusiasm and passion.

The Grands Crus de Saint-Emilion Cup was awarded to the Chateau Rochebelle, ahead of the Chateau Valandraud, the most famous
of these wines "for your garage". The seventy jury members, grouped together by the Saint-Emilion Wine Growers Union, had to choose the most regular cru out of 1996, 1997 and 1998 vintages from sixty-eight competitors, after a blind taste test. This excluded all possible chance.
The happy winner of this competition, who does not intend to increase its prices, was not surprised: "it is a choice which explains our consistent
approach, that of making cellar wines." This would be great if it didn't cause doubt in the consumer's mind. How can a wine twenty-two times cheaper impose itself in front of the most sought after wines, a wine which achieved 93 out of 100 from Robert Parker who said "one of the most elegant
Valandraud products to date"? Rochebelle must content itself with an honorable 88 out of 100 with, nevertheless, the following commentary:
"this wine could impose itself as a revelation of its year."
